Digital Poster

Part of rebranding an organization is keeping a consistent theme throughout any advertising mediums. First Baptist Pinehurst's theme should be recognizable on any deliverable it creates, especially on advertisements and flyers. This digital poster is an example of how the church's mission and values are portrayed in a simple event flyer.

Questions

Who is the audience? Why should they care? What will the attendees get out of this event? Why does the church want people to come? Where will these posters be hung?

Research

I gathered all the basic information about the event, such as date, time, location, etc. I also found out that this event was meant to simply be an appreciation of the women in the church, and that all women were welcome to join.

Implementation

Using the information about the audience, the event, and the purpose, I created a flyer that would appeal to the type of person who would want to attend this kind of event.

Design principles

This poster was the result of much trial and error, design-wise. I wanted to include the principle of enclosure through the white border, but I wanted to create a more 3D effect by layering my image and text over it in some places. I also saw how the principle of alignment helped me organize the menu information in a clear and aesthetically-pleasing way.

One of the biggest tricks I learned through working on this assignment was the method of outlining text with a slightly darker color of the background. This way, I could keep the main colors of my text without sacrificing the visibility. It provided more of a contrast between the fine edges and the background colors.
